Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

The primary symptom of pregnancy1 is missing 1 or more menstrual periods, but women often experience other symptoms prior to a missed period. Some of these are similar to pre-menstrual symptoms such as, swollen or tender breasts, slight bleeding, and mood swings. Other symptoms include nausea/vomiting, headaches, fatigue, food cravings/aversions or frequent urination. These symptoms vary from woman to woman, so it is possible to experience one or several of these symptoms. It is best to confirm your pregnancy with a lab quality pregnancy test.

We currently are scheduling appointments for in-person visits only. Appointments are available on Mondays and Wednesdays between the hours of 10 am and 3 pm. Ultrasounds are also scheduled by appointment only and can be performed on the same day, depending on how far along you are in your pregnancy and if we have an available appointment.

Your health and safety are our top priority. Therefore, in order to slow the spread of Covid 19, we are currently only allowing 1 person at a time inside our center. If, however, you are under the age of 18 and would feel better having someone with you, please call us so that we may take extra precautions.

It is recommended that you have a home test verified by our lab quality urine pregnancy tests. (we do not provide blood tests) If your test is positive, we can then offer you an ultrasound to determine 3 things: if the pregnancy is viable (living), the gestational age (how far along you are) and that the pregnancy is located in the uterus (as opposed to fallopian tubes). This is a necessary step in making a decision that is best for you.

Yes, all of our services are completely confidential. Your trust is extremely important to us and we abide by strict privacy standards as outlined in HIPAA.

All of our services are FREE of charge. You will never be billed for any service you receive at our clinic.

Vaginal bleeding during pregnancy occurs in about 25% of early pregnancies2. It is recommended that you come in to confirm if your pregnancy is viable (living). If, however, you are experiencing heavy bleeding, we recommend that you seek medical attention immediately.

If you are considering abortion, PCN will confirm your pregnancy with a pregnancy test and will offer an ultrasound to determine if your pregnancy is viable. More than 25% of all pregnancies end in natural miscarriage, so many times an abortion is not necessary. If your pregnancy is viable, we will provide you with up-to-date information on all of your options in a confidential manner. We do not provide abortions at our center but will discuss your options so you can make an informed decision.

Please have ready a driver’s license or other form of identification.

Your privacy is extremely important to us. If you are under the age of 18, you may come in alone to discuss your options and decide together who is best to be included in your support system.

We currently do not offer STD testing but can make a referral for you to receive treatment.

Pregnancy test appointments range from 20 – 30 minutes, which includes time spent with a client advocate to talk about your special circumstances. If you are receiving an ultrasound on the same day, your appointment will be closer to 45 minutes – 1 hour.

We provide limited OB ultrasounds to determine intrauterine, viability and gestational age. Sexual gender can be detected around 12 weeks of pregnancy and is best determined under the supervision of your OB/GYN.

It takes between 6-10 days after intercourse for conception to take place. We recommend that you wait 10 days following intercourse to schedule your appointment.
